How is standard tube D×t selected?+
From a catalog of common tubes: the smallest outer diameter D and wall thickness t that fit the part including machining allowances.
What does tube fit validation check?+
Whether the part nominal fits the selected tube ID after allowances. If not, the next standard D×t is offered.
Is bandsaw kerf included for tube?+
Yes — a typical saw kerf is added to blank length, affecting purchased mass and material utilization.
Norming parameters
Material selection for round bar, hexagon, forgings and sheet. For sheet — standard thicknesses, commercial sheet nesting and a PDF report.
Step 1. Finished part geometry and standard tube
Fit check: blank inner diameter d = D − 2t = 28 mm · auto-selected as the smallest size that fits the part
Lets you calculate UF and chip weight accurately when the part has large holes, pockets or lightening cut-outs.
Step 2. Cutting (piece-by-piece blank on the saw)
For tube only piece-by-piece cutting on a band saw is used.
Affects batch weight and UF.

Calculation methodology and material consumption norming
The calculator selects a standard D×t tube, checks that the clean part fits the nominal and calculates piece-by-piece band saw cutting with the batch mass and UF.
What the algorithm accounts for
D×t selection: the smallest standard combination of outer diameter and wall thickness that fits the part after process allowances.
